Prevent Suicide!!!

To help save a life, please look out for your friends and family, even a stranger if they come up to you and disclose some concerning information. If you notice a difference in a loved-one please #SPEAKUP. Do not let these things go unnoticed. #ReachOut to your loved ones and make sure they know they can trust you and make sure they know you will always be there for them. The suicide rate in the United States has seen sharp increases in recent years. It's now the 10th leading cause of death in the country, according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Studies have shown that the risk of suicide declines sharply when people call the national suicide hotline: 1-800-273-TALK (En EspaƱol: 1-888-628-9454; Deaf and Hard of Hearing: 1-800-799-4889).  There is also a crisis text line: Text HOME to 741741 for free, 24/7 crisis support in the US. The lines are staffed by a mix of paid professionals and unpaid volunteers trained in crisis and suicide intervention. The co

Family photos with a toddler

Who ever said that would be easy!! This was my first gig at taking family photos. Of course I picked the 'good' ones to show you guys, but I probably took about 100. The toddler definitely ran the whole session. Needless to say, it was very much fun working with this family. Plus this day was a beautiful day for a walk in the park!

Hello? Spring?

There are two types of people in this world People who love the snow People who do not like the snow, not even a little bit. They don't even like cold weather, they prefer it to be summer all year around I am number two. I strongly dislike being cold (since hate is not a nice word). I seriously have 12 heated blankets in my apartment. Totally kidding, I really only have 2, but you can never have enough heated blankets. ANYWAYS... our Winter here in Louisville, seemed to be pretty mild. Although we did have some cold days, we didn't have that much snow this year. Well surprise surprise, we had our biggest snow of the year on the second day of Spring. (I think) we are all hoping this is the last snow, at least I am! Since the snow IS pretty, I decided to take advantage of our last snow day and take some pictures.

Louisville flood of 2018

Image
For the past few days, we have been under a Flash Flood Warning. The Ohio River has been rising. This is not an unusual thing that happens in Louisville because the river tends to overflow. However, they are calling this the worst flood Louisville has seen in over 20 years. With the rain that we got Saturday, 2/24/2018, the river rose 20 feet above normal levels. I was able to go out and see the damage. Now I do not remember the flood of 97 because I was 3 years old, but what I saw was pretty devastating . People's homes were engulfed in water, their back yards covered. Some houses are on high rises, so they are semi-prepared for this. However, if they were in their homes, they had to have been stranded. There was no way they could get out unless it was by boat. The photos below were taken with my phone, because I did not plan on going out. Nevertheless, I am glad I did. These waters are said to keep rising for a few more days, but the good news is that there is no rain in the fo
